Elmwood has been proactively operating a number of sustainable practices for several years now. Our goal? Reduce the volume of waste to landfill, increase the efficiency of our business, and in doing so create even better value for our customers.
Over the last 10 years we have been:
- Minimising waste to landfill
Using Site Waste Management Plans to identify opportunities for waste prevention and waste reduction, along with options for reuse, recycling and recovery
- Reducing carbon emissions
Promoting low carbon designs and materials, exploring sustainable construction practices, reducing energy usage and investigating renewable energy sources
- Sourcing FSC-certified materials
Wherever possible, sourcing products from responsibly managed forests certified by the UK Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
- Promoting BREEAM
Staying up to date with – and proactively adopting – BREEAM criteria via the appointment of our own in-house BREEAM Ambassador
- Delivering wider community benefits
Boosting the sustainability of the local economies in which we work via recruitment and training, and our long-running apprenticeship scheme.
