Kirkintilloch Community Hub < BACK

Project team
Client: East Dunbartonshire Council
Designers: Graven Images
Architect: Anderson Bell Christie
Fit out: Elmwood
The first project to be undertaken as part of the newly formed Hub West Framework, this fit out saw a traditional local library transformed into a thriving community hub thanks to an ingenious design by Graven Images with fit out by Elmwood.
Down came several existing block walls and in came extensive electric wiring and heavy duty data cabling, new acoustic-controlled ceiling panels and bi-folding entrance screens with open views of the welcoming, multi-service space just waiting to be explored.
The new reception with its bespoke display cases, bookcases and soft seating is now a place to linger; adults, teens and kids all have their own dedicated areas in which to read or play; while communal areas such as the IT stations, customer service pods, family and interview rooms, café and refurbished toilets underline that this is very much a space designed with all the community in mind.
