Client: The McArthurGlen Group
Designers: Keppie Design (Livingston); Rawls & Co (York)
Bespoke joinery and fit out: Elmwood
Just as each McArthurGlen Designer Outlet is different to the next so too were the briefs for refurbishing the food halls at the Group’s Livingston and York Outlets. In the case of Livingston we upgraded the dining area throughout by manufacturing and installing bespoke furniture, installing two large welcome screens and restoring the signature glass dome to its former glory with new handrails, balustrades and tiling.
York meanwhile, saw us build a raised floor area with banquet-style seating crafted from oak, install a feature ceiling and limed oak panelling with stainless steel skirting to the north and south atrium, add limestone plasters to surrounding shop fronts and tile throughout.
One thing common to each project however, was that we adopted a phased approach to the programme, working through the night to enable both food halls to operate as normal by day with the minimum of disruption.
“Following the completion of our two most recent projects – the Mott Macdonald offices and The Bridge Argyle Street – we are once again delighted at the professionalism and conduct on both these difficult contracts.”
