Mull of Galloway Visitor Centre < BACK

Project team
Client: South RHINS Community Development Trust
Designer: Campbell & Co
Bespoke joinery: Elmwood
What once were the engine room and stores of the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse were given a new lease of life in 2009 thanks to an initiative by the South Rhins Community Development Trust, Northern Lighthouse Board, Gallie Craig Coffee House and RSPB to transform them into an interactive visitor attraction.
Working with a mix of metal, glass and woodwork, Elmwood overcame the challenge of the buildings’ uneven floors and custom made all floor-standing and wall-mounted display cases for the new visitor centre which went on to be awarded four star tourist attraction status by VisitScotland.
