Client: Historic Scotland
Designers: Campbell & Co
Bespoke joinery and fit out: Elmwood
If ever there was a project to test the most experienced of fit out teams, this was it. The brief was to strip out and re-fit the Castle’s main gift shop. The building’s listed status however, necessitated that the new mechanical and electrical engineering systems, including customer lift, be installed without drilling into the original walls and that bespoke shop fit units be manufactured to Historic Scotland standards – all whilst adhering to restricted delivery times outwith normal working hours.
Yet by combining our project management and bespoke manufacturing joinery expertise with military-precision planning, we successfully overcame each of these challenges to deliver the welcoming interior of exposed stonework, warm oak and glass – the perfect backdrop for the shop’s colourful display of gifts and souvenirs.
“Elmwood and Redman have the creative vision to help us realise our objectives with this ambitious project. They have really gone all out to enable us to meet our deadlines and budget requirements.”
