Client: Yorkshire Museums Trust
Designers: Campbell & Co
Bespoke joinery and fit out: Elmwood
Involving two new exhibitions at the new-look Yorkshire Museum – ‘Medieval York: The Power And The Glory’ and ‘Extinct: A Way Of Life’ – this gallery fit out in conjunction with Campbell & Co involved the creation of five separate galleries over two floors.
Elmwood was commissioned to manufacture, coordinate and install all set works, plinths and display cases – including the construction of structural steel supports for the displays that were to feature the museum’s priceless stone artefacts – along with graphics and audio visual works.
“With Phase 1 we had a traditional build tenement style contract which sold out very early thanks to positive feedback on quality. Phase 2 was more complex in construction but retained the element of quality finish which was so important for purchaser satisfaction.”
