Quick turnaround for double-aged Dewar’s
Dewar’s new-look Visitor Centre at the Aberfeldy Distillery is on schedule to open in time to capitalise fully on what’s set to be a truly remarkable year for tourism in Scotland.
Designed by Contagious, with fit out by Elmwood Projects, the project has involved the complete refurbishment of the existing Visitor Centre which welcomes over 32,000 people every year.
Says Production Director Steven Gough: “By marrying traditional materials such as natural stone, copper and oak with state-of-the-art lighting and graphics, the new-look Centre will deliver a truly premium visitor experience across three distinct zones.
“A stunning oak tunnel lined with the staves of whisky barrels will lead people from Dewar’s World of Whisky exhibition to the new Visitor Centre, where they can wander between the café, tasting area and brand store. There’s also a special feature wall showcasing unique artefacts and memorabilia – much of it on display to the public for the first time.”
The latest in a series of projects for Dewar’s in recent years, the fit out package was completed within just nine weeks, keeping the project on course to open for the start of the tourist season.
